A spread out foraminous tow of tensioned filamentary filter material is transported through a housing between an upper and a lower rotating cylindrical brush. The upper brush propels atomized liquid plasticizer against the upper side of the tow whereby a certain amount of plasticizer penetrates through the tow and is gathered in the housing within the range of bristles on the lower brush which propels the gathered plasticizer against the underside of the tow. The rate of feed of plasticizer to the upper brush is varied in response to changes in the speed of the tow, and the brushes are arrested when the transporting rolls for the tow are brought to a standstill. The lower portion of the housing constitutes a trough which surrounds the lower half of the lower brush and from which the gathered plasticizer is evacuated when the brushes are idle.

This invention relates to the finishing of a cord filter cloth used for cigarette filters. A method for treating a face with a fixator of a continuously moving cord filter cloth by applying a plasticizer to one side of the web by spraying is known. The purpose of the invention is to increase the quality of processing of the filtering sheet. This goal is achieved by the fact that according to the plasticizer processing method of a continuously moving harness filter cloth by applying a plasticizer on one side of the web by spraying, the plasticizer is supplied in a dosing flow, the plasticizer is picked up through the web and fed to the opposite side of the web by spraying it. When the speed of the web changes, the amount of plasticizer changes in proportion to the speed of the web. A device for implementing a plasticizer processing method for continuously moving harness filter cloth, comprising a chamber with inlet and outlet holes for passing the web in a horizontal plane, a centrifugal element installed in the chamber for applying a plasticizer on one side of the web and driving the web with a stop mechanism, having pump dp plasticizer feed to centrifugal-. The lower element is located above the plane of the web, the chamber in the lower part is made in the form of a funnel and additionally has a second centrifugal element for applying a plasticizer on the other side of the web, the centrifugal elements being made in the form of brush rollers interconnected by a common actuator and displacement actuator canvases. A hole is made in the wall of the lower part of the chamber to remove plasticizing liquid, which has an adjustable shutter associated with the mechanism for stopping the drive for moving the web. The method is carried out as follows.
The filter cloth harness is stretched longitudinally and extended in the transverse direction, thus forming a net-like structure with large spaces between the threads. A harness filter cloth, for example, from cellulose acetate fiber, is moved through a chamber in which a plasticizer, such as triacetate, is applied to it, by spraying in the form of small droplets. The application of the plasticizer is carried out in metered flow with a metering pump. Since the canvas has a loose structure, some of the droplets penetrate through it. The plasticizer that has passed through the web is caught and fed to the opposite side of the web by spraying it with an additional centrifugal element. When the speed of the web changes, the amount of plasticizer changes in proportion to the speed of the web. When the filing of a harness cloth is turned off, the application of the plasticizer must be stopped, since otherwise the web is strongly wetted, which causes damage to the machine and impairs the quality of the treatment. To prevent this, the drive of the centrifugal elements is shut off. Excess plasticizer is removed through an outlet made in the area of the chamber. The removal of the plasticizer is controlled by means of a shutter opening when the kg filtering sheet is stopped. When the blade drive is cooled, the centrifugal drive drive is disconnected and at the same time a signal is given to the adjustable shutter, which opens, and the excess plasticizer flowing along the walls of the crow to form a housing after stopping the blade is removed and fed to a special tank. The device comprises a chamber 1 with inlet 2 and outlet 3 for the passage of the blade 4 in the horizontal plane, in the chamber 1 centrifugal elements 5 and 6 are installed.
